Ubore Khan, also known as Abdur Rahiman Khan, was a Pathan from the village of Jaurian near Batala in Punjab. According to the Bhai Bale Vali Janam Sakhi, he was a devoted follower of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. Ubore Khan embraced Guru Nanak’s teachings, which emphasized the unity of humanity and the divine light present in all beings.
One notable moment in his spiritual journey was his discussion with Guru Nanak on the topic of Hindu-Muslim unity. Inspired by the Guru’s wisdom, Ubore Khan presented a cloth length to Guru Nanak as a token of his devotion. The Guru, in turn, made two sheets from it and gifted one to his companion, Bhai Mardana.
Ubore Khan’s story reflects the inclusive and universal message of Guru Nanak’s teachings.
