THARA SAHIB, an half-a-metre high and 5-metre square marble-paved platform stands in the open space in front of Damdama Sahib. It was here that Guru Tegh Bahadur received the group of Kashmiri Pandits who called on him in 1675.

Gurdwara Thara Sahib, also known as Manji Sahib is another shrine in the Guru ke Mahal complex. It has been built where Guru Tegh Bahadur used to address the Sikh congregation and interact with the common people. It was here that Pandit Kirpa Ram along with his Kashmiri Brahmin companions met the Guru on 25 May, 1675. He apprised the Guru with their miserable plight of being persecuted and of being coerced to convert to Islam under threat of death. He sought the Guru’s intercession, succour and protection from repression let loose by the Mughal Governor of Kashmir. It was here at this place that the Guru decided to lay down his life for righteousness, i.e., to defend and uphold the right to practice and profess religion of one’s own choice and oppose the coercive and forcible proselytisation, a unique and rare instance of a sacrifice by a religious divine and a supreme head of any religion to protect the religious faith of people other than his own.
A splendid Gurdwara – in place of what was once a half meter high and a five meter square platform paved with fine marble slabs – stands here now facing Gurdwara Bhora Sahib. This Gurdwara was built only about twenty five years back.
